Mass Save

Mass Save Partner logo Mass Save offers many energy efficiency rebate and incentive programs for both commercial and residential projects. Vestal Energy can provide program enrollment and verifications for residential new construction, major renovations, additions and ADU projects, and certain heat pump rebates.

New Construction

A home under construction Mass Save's residential new construction incentives are available for most homes built in the state, so long as they are all-electric and use no fossil fuels for heating, cooking, laundry, or hot water. Enrollment requires working with a HERS Rater, which is already necessary in most Massachusetts communities anyway to get a building permit and Certificate of Occupancy.

Renovations and Additions

Major renovations and additions can also receive incentive payments. Projects that continue to use fossil fuels may be eligible for modest incentives, while those available to all-electric homes with new heat pump systems can be substantial.

The preexisting conditions of the home must be documented to be eligible for this program, so it is essential to begin working with a HERS Rater before any major construction begins.

Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU's)

ADU's will qualify for either the New Construction program or the Renovations & Additions program, depending on which best fits the project.

Heat Pump Rebates

Heat pump rebates for new construction, renovations & additions, and ADU's are included as part of all HERS Rating-based incentive programs. Homeowners and installing contractors do not need to complete any other applications or paperwork to receive them. An HPIN contractor and HPQPL equipment are required for eligibility.
